
Susanna and the Elders Italy: Renaissance 1610 CE Two lascivious old men, spying on Susanna at her bath, threaten that unless she consents to their demands they will accuse her of adultery. Susanna refuses, however, preferring death to stoning. Brought to trial, she is saved by divine intervention and so becomes a symbol of the salvation that awaits those who put their full trust in God.
