
Twisted Face North American Indian: Onondaga Circa 1850-1900 CE Carved wooden masks representing various spirits in the Iroquois Cosmology are used by the False Face Society during healing rituals. On eof the most important of these beings is Twisted Face (Haduigona), also known as the Humpback One. the deformity was the result of an injoury suffered in a legendary encounter with a mountain.
