Poetry Invite to Write 12/12/23

Here is the image for this month's invite to write:

Our symbol for this month is Sun.

Throughout Europe, the sun was depicted as being pulled in a chariot sometimes with the sun being represented as a male warrior. Like a hunted animal, darkness must find the most remote hidden places to survive the onslaught of the sun through the day. The sun has a clarity of objectivity. There is a long held association between the sun and power often tied to masculine engergies, rooted in its life giving abilities, its heat, and its blinding light, this power cut be destructive and constructive. The alchemical Sol was affiliated with both the decay that exposure to time and elements causes but also it was associated with truth, healing, and growth. When in the sky, little can hide from the sun's rays over the course of the day, feeding plants and warming the earth but soon that nourishing can transform into exposure. Thinking back to Icarus flying too close to the sun falling down to earth in the face of its intense heat, the sun is ultimately a tremednous resource that must be diluted to be safely used. This can also be thought of as a reflection of nature's constant need for balance of various powerful phenomena in the surface of preserving a fragile equilibrium

Think about the sun as a force that destroy, create, nuture, and erode. Contemplate other myths relating to immense power and the variety of ways that immense power transforms our world in positive and negative ways.

Happy Writing!
