ARAS RECORD 5GA.201
THE DEAD LOVERS
Our symbol for this month is worms.
Worms are agents of decay and a crucial part of the nutrient cycle, taking detritus and breaking it down into food for the lowest of creatures. Slimey and often hidden from the surface world, the worm is evidence of the world below, the realm of the dead and of the darkness. In medieval times, it was thought that worms were actually baby snakes and as such reviled for what they would later transform into. That suspicion and fear continues to this day, even as we understand its utility.
Think about the dangerous and terrifying forces that nevertheless keep our world functioning. Consider how sometimes we prefer to live in ignorance of the components of the natural world that we see as disgusting or unseemly.
