In the chaos of today's world, the question is often asked, "What can we do?" The answer that comes to mind is, "Take what you do well and do it better." The Gaia webinar did exactly that, take what we do well as Jungians, ie approach the world through a mythopoetic lens, and do it better.

Some reflections:
Humans can't kill the planet, but they can influence natural rhythms. 350 million years ago the polar regions were tropical jungles, 275 million years ago, glaciers covered the northern hemisphere, etc. Now we have substantially interfered with this rhythm bringing about inevitable destruction to life as we know it.

The realm of Gaia, the deified form of the cosmic "soul of the world" which embraces life in all forms, would include the forces in the human world which are working in a self-destructive way, among them the technology of the Industrial Revolutions which gave rise to the use of fossil fuel burning agencies and their mechanisms, the primary contributors to climate change. The fossil fuel industry, with its money and misinformation has subtly dominated the political discourse in America and prevented, through political manipulation, any meaningful regulation in this area. I would suggest that a mythopoetic approach to this industry and the cultural dependency upon it, ie, an attitude that does not demonize, but rather sees aesthetically, would be a meaningful endeavor.
