The Circle and the Wheel and the Sundoor

The third image of the sun is the ram settled on the ground in the evening with his legs folded under him. Lining the red sandstone avenues at Karnak the animals face each other, settled after grazing all day, fully relaxed and content. It is the evening sunset, the quiet sense of closure at the end of the day ready for the night journey through the Netherworld. Egyptian civilization is centered along the Nile, hence crossing of river is the movement of the day from morning to evening, as well as the movement from the land of the living to the land of the dead. The Necropolis cities are on the west bank where the sun sets.
