The second image is Horus the falcon, the sun at noon. In the clear, blue sky the falcon gracefully soars in long arcs on the currents of the wind. The hawk is also a scavenger. In the tropical sky, the sun is not always beneficent; sometimes his is the raging lion and in the desert the hawk tears and mutilates the sun-stricken animal. Horus is often seen with the sun disk on his head and with the ankh sign, the symbol of life. Sometimes he rides on the sun barge.
