On the episcopal throne of Archbishop Maximan (Figures 31 and 32), Christ appears more as a child than as a mature man in his early thirties. When the gods are depicted as "beardless" in those forms like the dolphin-riding figures or a young Apollonian figure it speaks of the physical perfection and boundless energy symbolized by youth.
