Like all sweet things, honey is associated with coagulatio. It symbolizes the alluring sweetness that excites desire and lures one into life and reality. But as Jung mentions in CW14: par. 687, and fn. 81 certain texts make clear that honey can also change into deadly poison. This refers to the fact that following one's desires can be quite dangerous at times:
