In medieval art in the west many examples relate the wheel to the seasonal cycles of nature. One drawing shows an old man in the center of the drawing with Sol on the right and Luna on the left, while thunder, waves, rain, dew, frost, and hail surround him, the conditions of the seasonal cycles of time. In a drawing from Hildegard von Bingen the cycle of times is shown with the sun on the left and the moon on the right and with the zodiacal figures to mark the turn of the wheel.
